If you can tear yourself away from the comfort of your relaxing coastal retreat or from watching wildlife in and around the garden there is plenty to do on Seil Island and close by.
The local boat trips regularly spot porpoise, minke whales, dolphins, basking sharks, otters, seals, deer and eagles (run by Sealife Adventures and Seafari).
Cycling - There are mountain bike trails on and close to Seil or take the ferry to Luing to explore. Your bikes can be stored in our lockable shed or you can hire bikes on Luing or in Oban.
Walking - Pick from low or high coastal walks, farm tracks with magnificent views out to Mull, hill walks and woodland walks.
Visit Seil's Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserve where you can spot birds, otters, roe deer, wild flowers and perhaps the rare Marsh Fritillary butterfly.
Explore the beautiful village of Ellenabeich and visit the museum detailing the history of the slate quarries on the islands or relax at The Oyster Bar overlooking the islands.
Kayaking - Kayak rental or guided trips are run from Seil.
Golf- Seil has a nine hole golf course beside Balvicar Bay with wonderful views. Clubs and trollies are available for hire.
OPEN GARDEN (Glorious Garden Scheme) An Cala is a stunning coastal garden with magnificent Rhododendrons.
Seil is a stunning location to enjoy fishing, bird watching or wild swimming.
Explore Easdale Island and it's folk museum and Puffer Bar or the island of Luing by car, foot or bike and visit The Atlantic Islands Centre which has local history exhibitions, a café and shop.
Oban has a cinema, museum, swimming pool, gym, climbing cube, soft play, tennis and squash courts. Visit McCaig's Tower above the town or take a tour of the Oban Distillery and enjoy a sample of the world-famous Oban Whisky. You can kayak, paddle board, go deep sea fishing for skate or take a boat trip to see seals. Close by there is a golf club and riding stables.
Take a short ferry ride to Kerrera and walk to the castle and enjoy tea and cake at the café or a ferry to Lismore to cycle or walk and visit the local Heritage Centre.
Mull/Iona
You can take a ferry from Oban to Mull and go to the beautiful village of Tobermory with its
coloured houses or explore the stunning isle of IONA with its famous Abbey and nine white sandy
beaches. At the right time of year, you can hear the rare corncrake.
Boat trips visit Fingal's cave on Staffa island with its iconic basalt columns and acoustics. On the journey out, it is possible to see minke whales, dolphins, porpoises and otters.
We recommend a visit to see the puffins on the Treshnish Isles between April and early August.
